Sauk River
Whitewater
All Sauk River Trips are done in co-operation with Wild and Scenic River Tours.
When it comes to scenery and whitewater, the Sauk is a hit! The river
itself is federally protected as a Wild and Scenic river system and
the pristine mountain scenery and wildlife surrounding the area is
untamed. The water itself is a combination of snowpack and glacial
melt, making for a beautiful green hue. Nearly continuous Class
III to IV rapids run through large boulders creating great
technical rapids like Alligator Drop, Jaws, and Popeye. Darrington
is also the meeting place for the Sauk. Run this one when wanting to
experience the true Washington mountain outback!
Overnight Trips
This great river is a national treasure and has been federally protected
as a Wild & Scenic River by the U.S. Congress. The combination
of scenery, action, history and local lore and legend make this river
one of the premier river rafting experiences in this country. You'll
experience great rapids, such as Jaws, Popeye, and Alligator Drop.
Astounding views of the surrounding mountains with hanging glaciers
will mesmerize you while the local wildlife will make its presence
known. Your guide/chefs will provide gourmet riverside meals for you
to enjoy. On an overnight trip we will typically serve a continental
breakfast, deli style lunch and baked dinner the first day, and full
breakfast and hot lunch the second day, plus snacks and drinks. The
rapids on this river are rated Class IV.
