Whitewater River Guide Training 2024

Embark on an exhilarating journey with Alpine Adventures as they announce the commencement of their highly sought-after Raft Guide Training Course starting on April 27th, 2024. Year after year, Alpine Adventures stands out as the top choice for guide trainees who seek a comprehensive program that goes beyond the norm. What sets them apart? The opportunity to learn on not just one, but four different rivers.

Certified by the American Canoe Association and with a rich history of training over 250 guides in the last two decades, Alpine Adventures prides itself on having one of the toughest and most thorough River Guide Training Programs in Washington State. Trainees are equipped with a comprehensive training manual to aid in their education. Unlike other training programs that focus on memorizing specific river routes, Alpine Adventures emphasizes teaching guides to read water—a crucial skill that allows for adaptability on any river.

The 2024 Guide Training is designed not only for those looking to enhance their private boating skills but also for individuals aspiring to become commercially certified guides in Washington State. The program aligns with Washington State’s requirements, incorporating 50 hours of on-river training. Trainees have the opportunity to join additional river trips during and after the class to accumulate the necessary hours and skills to confidently guide guests down the river. Missing a weekend or a day is manageable, as participants can make up for it, though the scheduled dates are deemed the most valuable for personalized instruction.

The training itinerary includes:

  • April 27th & 28th: Skykomish River III-V, Gold Bar, WA
  • May 4th & 5th: Green River Class IV, Black Diamond, WA
  • May 11th & 12th: Sauk River Class III, Darrington, WA
  • May 17th & 18th: Skagit River Class II-III, Newhalem, WA

The $599 training fee covers all river gear, including wetsuits, neoprene footwear, splash jacket, helmet, and river shuttles. To secure a spot, a $200 deposit can be made, or the full payment can be completed. (The normal price to run the Green River is $189 for a 1 day trip.  Trainees will have the opportunity to run the Green 2-3 times during the 4 week program.)

Alpine Adventures hires directly from their guide class, offering exciting full-time employment opportunities within the company. Starting wages are set at $120 per trip, with the potential to earn up to $150 per trip. This is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, providing guests with unforgettable experiences in the heart of Washington’s breathtaking landscapes. If you have the skills, the spirit, and the love for adventure, apply now to become a part of Alpine Adventures’ 2024 river guide team.
